Information
Leaseweb strives to make any new stable/production release available as fast as possible. However, due to the large variety of hardware that we offer, new releases may not immediately be available at Leaseweb at launch time. If you need to run a specific OS version, you can always request this as a custom installation.

CentOS 7 End-Of-Life Guidance
The CentOS project decided to stop supporting CentOS Linux and shift its focus to the CentOS Stream ( https://blog.centos.org/2020/12/future-is-centos-stream/). CentOS 7 will reach EOL (end-of-life) on June 30, 2024, and will not receive any software updates and security patches thereafter.
Impact for CentOS users
Leaseweb used to offer CentOS 7 as the default operating system on the website and customer portal for new orders and reinstalls, respectively. However, this default option has now been changed to Ubuntu LTS. CentOS 7 will be completely removed from the website on June 30, 2024. However, it will still be available for a few months thereafter via the “Install Wizard” of the Dedicated Server page on the Customer Portal for reinstalls. The same is the case for VPS reinstalls. Accommodating existing VPS to reinstall CentOS 7 for an extended period. Do note that these reinstalls do not come with any new security updates after the end-of-life date for CentOS 7.
Migration Options
Servers running CentOS need to migrate to alternate operating systems to continue getting updates and security patches.
Two prominent options for migration are Rocky Linux and Alma Linux, both of which are open-source distributions and serve as the closest compatible alternatives to CentOS 7. Leaseweb currently offers Alma Linux and Rocky Linux versions 8 and 9. Other great available alternatives are Debian, Ubuntu, and FreeBSD all of which are offered by Leaseweb.
Microsoft Windows Server – Windows SPLA
The Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA) program is specially designed by Microsoft to deliver a simple solution to all service providers who would like to offer software as a service.
SPLA provides 3rd party commercial use rights to service providers, who will be the holders of the Microsoft licences, so that end-client (you) receiving services deployed on Microsoft Software Products are not required to obtain their own Microsoft Software Licences.
You receive the right to interact with Microsoft software functionalities through the SPLA licences provided by Leaseweb.
