Managing Images on Public Cloud

Public Cloud offers different popular Linux operating systems and even Windows. In addition, you can create your own image to launch new instances. This enables you to launch instances with pre-packaged libraries or custom configuration settings much quicker.

Public Cloud images are stored on your Object Storage account with Leaseweb. In order to make use of images, you will need to setup your account and configure a bucket for storage.

Setting up your Object Storage account

To enable Object Storage, you can sign up through the website on this link. Your request will be forwarded to our Sales department and they will contact you about the commitment type (on demand or committed).

Configuring your Object Storage bucket for images

To configure your Object Storage bucket, you will need to create the bucket in your Object Storage account and provide the authentication details on the Custom images page.

  1. Login to you Object Storage account (login details can be found on the Customer Portal)
  2. Create a bucket in Object Storage that will be used to store you images.
    • To create a bucket follow these steps
    • You will need a bucket name, access key and secret key, to configure images to use your Object Storage account
  3. Go to the Custom images page
  4. Provide the Name, Access key and Secret key, that you have created for the bucket in Object Storage

Now your bucket is connected to Public Cloud. All images that are created will be stored in the specified bucket on your Object Storage account.

Creating an image from an instance

  1. To create a new image from an instance, go to the Custom images page
  2. Click the Create Custom Image button in the right corner
  3. Provide a Name for the image and select the instance from which an image will be created

When the image has been created it will show up in the list on the Custom images page.

Launching an instance from an image

  1. To launch an instance from an image that you have in your account go to the launch instance page
  2. Under the OS images section, you can go to Custom images, where you will find your own images listed to launch an instance from
