Enable / Disable & Configure Acronis Immutable Storage
Immutable Storage enables companies to enhance their data protection services and ensures that backups cannot be encrypted or deleted by a ransomware attack on the endpoint.
With Acronis Immutable Storage, you can customise the retention period for deleted backups.
Why do you need to tune this setting?
Backups marked for deletion under an immutable storage policy continue to consume storage space. This means:
- Your backup storage consumption may increase.
- You might need to adjust your backup plan space to accommodate for the additional space.
- It is important to plan accordingly when enabling this feature to avoid unexpected storage constraints.
Instructions
For immutable storage, you can configure 3 options:
- Enable/disable the immutable storage
- Choose the retention period (14-3650 days)
- Governance / Compliance mode: Compliance mode allows you to force this setting and prevent any user, even yourself, from reverting it.
You can configure these options by following these steps :
- Connect on the Acronis portal as per the instructions. See Activating your account for further details.
- On the left-hand side menu, select Settings -> Security
- On the right-hand side, scroll to the Immutable storage section
- Customize your settings according to your backup policy.
- Click Save to confirm the modifications.
