Leaseweb Virtual Private Servers are delivered on our high-performance local storage-based Public Cloud platform. The platform is built on open-source KVM hypervisors with local NVMe drives, delivering up to 15K IOPS. Storing data on the storage of the hypervisors benefits the performance significantly. However, this does come with a recover time in case of a failure of the hypervisor.

Software
Leaseweb VPS supports several Linux distributions and various Control Panels – see more below.
Operating system
Leaseweb installs a basic version of the operating system of your choice, with SSH enabled for remote access. We also install some additional scripts to enable certain functionalities, such as resetting your VPS password. You can reset the password of your VPS yourself from the Leaseweb Customer Portal.
Control Panels
Control Panels are available in all Leaseweb VPS packs. Please note that not all Control Panels are compatible with all operating systems, some combinations are excluded. Network
All Leaseweb VPS are connected to our state-of-the-art network. For more network information, please visit the Leaseweb website.
Data traffic
All Leaseweb VPS come with a default 30TB data traffic pack. Data traffic usage is measured over the month and over usage is billed on the next invoice.
Traffic restrictions
We apply some traffic restrictions to provide you with better network isolation, such as:
- blocking traffic from IP addresses not belonging to the VPS
- blocking broadcast/multicast traffic types between VPS in the same subnet
Firewall
Leaseweb offers free Basic Firewall functionality as a feature for VPS to provide basic filtering functionality. For more information on free Basic Firewalls, refer to the article on Firewalls.
IP addresses
Leaseweb VPS gets 1 public IPv4 address. You cannot obtain additional IPv4 addresses. For more information, refer to the article on IP addresses.
Network types
Leaseweb offers Volume network for your VPS. The Volume network offers one or more default Tier1 transit providers and selected peering connections. Volume network is engineered to provide a cost-efficient solution to high bandwidth needs. Service Level Agreement (SLA)
To keep your VPS connected 24/7, Leaseweb’s Basic Service Level Agreement is provided at no additional charge. For additional support, there are multiple levels of SLAs. For further information, refer to the article on Service Level Agreement (SLA).
Upgrades and downgrades for VPS
In the Customer Portal, you can request an upgrade for the Leaseweb VPS. Downgrading is currently not supported, because it is technically not possible to reduce your VPS volume. In case you want a smaller VPS, you will need to order a new one and cancel the existing contract.
To upgrade your Leaseweb VPS simply click the Upgrade button in the details page of the respective VPS.
