Description This page describes how to start a powercycle on your Dedicated & Bare Metal Server through the Action panel in the Customer Portal.
Perform a powercycle
Powercycle will immediately disconnect power from the server and power up the server again. Use powercycle only when you have no access to the server to perform a soft reboot.
LeaseWeb cannot be held accountable for any data loss during a server powercycle, A powercycle does not shut down applications gracefully and can result in data loss.
In case power port control is unavailable, such as with Supermicro MicroCloud based servers, IPMI will be used to perform a system poweroff / poweron cycle.
Perform the following steps to powercycle a Dedicated/Bare Metal server:
- In the server list page, or in the Action panel at the bottom of the server overview page, click Powercycle:
The Server Reboot dialog box displays.
If you choose to schedule a hardware scan, it will be performed immediately after the power cycle. This takes only a couple of minutes. Afterwards, the server will boot normally into the main OS.
After the hardware scan, the information in the page of the server detail page will be updated. See also Powercycle your server for more information.
- Click OK to power cycle.
The server detail page reloads, showing a confirmation box that the server was rebooted and displays the time required for the server to be up:
