Spam policy

Spam policy

Leaseweb has a zero-tolerance policy for unsolicited bulk email and unsolicited commercial email (UBE/UCE, or "spam") - including such unsolicited mail from its customers, clients of its customers, and/or subcontractors. Leaseweb defines UBE/UCE as unsolicited broadcast or commercial email that is send to addresses that do not affirmatively request such material from that specific sender, including but not limited to advertising, surveys, information, third-party spam, website addresses, sales, and auctions.

Authorized promotional email

Shared web hosting platform

Dutch law applies for promotional emails sent through Leaseweb’s mail platform.

Its two key principles are:

  • Recipients must be able to unsubscribe
  • You are required to keep an confirmed opt-in, also called ‘double opt-in’, agreement from each listed email address

How double opt-in works

  1. The potential recipient needs to fill out their email address to subscribe to the mail list
  2. A verification URL is sent to the subject via email
  3. The potential recipient needs to confirm their subscription through the verification URL

All outgoing mail send from Leaseweb’s Shared webhosting platform is queued and scanned to allow spam runs to be detected and blocked quickly. If you plan to send more than 5000 emails at once from a shared webhosting product, please inform Leaseweb in advance.

Dedicated or virtual server

If you have a Bare Metal server or Virtual Server, Leaseweb's spam policy and local law applies for the country the server is hosted in.

Actions taken when Leaseweb receives spam notifications

Any third-party spam reports will be acted upon by any means deemed necessary. Please refer to our article about Handling Abuse Notifications for more information on how to act on abuse notifications.
