Dedicated Servers Overview

 Description

Virtualization isn’t always the best choice. If you’ve got I/O-intensive functions such as big data applications, gaming, media streaming, or a large e-commerce website, the sheer power of Dedicated is going to serve you better. With no hypervisor overseeing everything, latency is kept to a minimum. And because the server is all yours, you won’t have to worry about "noisy neighbors" sharing your processing power.

It’s easy to control too. Through our customer portal and API, you can channel that power in the way that best supports your specific application.

Dedicated & Bare Metal servers overview

Servers

You’ll experience raw power when you opt for your own dedicated server resource from LeaseWeb. Our Dedicated Servers are built to handle the most processor-intensive and disk I/O-intensive workloads, including large databases and big data analytics, as well as latency-sensitive workloads such as gaming and e-commerce. You can expect all the flexibility and scalability of virtualization, plus great security and performance.

Dedicated servers are highly customizable and if needed build to your needs. Because of our vast inventories we are enabled to deliver dedicated servers between on-demand provisioning to a maximum of 5 workingdays – from single servers to large-scale deployments.

If you are in need of guaranteed instant deployments or Pay-As-You-Go servers, please have a look at our Bare Metal Servers or Pay-as-you-go Bare Metal Servers product lines.

Software

LeaseWeb provides you with options to choose from a wide range of Windows or Linux-based operating systems and industry standard control panels.

Operating systems

For detailed information on the availability of various versions of operating systems for Dedicated Servers from LeaseWeb, please refer to the article on operating systems.

Network

All Dedicated Servers are connected to a state-of-the-art network. For more information about network, please visit the LeaseWeb website.

Firewall

For information firewall options for your Dedicated Server, refer to the article on firewall.

IP addresses

For information about the limit of IPv4 addresses for Dedicated Servers, refer to the article on IPv4 address assignment and usage guidelines. For information about obtaining IPv6 addresses for your Dedicated Server, refer to the article on IPv6 address assignment and usage guidelines

Network types

LeaseWeb offers two network choices for your server—Volume and PremiumThe Volume network offers one or more default Tier1 transit provider and selected peering connections, and is engineered to provide a cost-efficient solution to high bandwidth needs. The Premium network offers full redundancy on all routers, and uses multiple quality Tier1 transit providers, as well as private and public peering. For more information on the network types and the network type availability matrix, refer to the article on network types.

Bandwidth

LeaseWeb offers you to choose between three different forms of bandwidth billing, each suitable for different kinds of bandwidth usage. All three options are available on both our Volume and Premium networks. For more information on our billing options, refer to the article on bandwidth billing.

Interconnects

If your servers are located in the same datacenter, LeaseWeb can set up an interconnect between these networks. An interconnect will add a dedicated in-house cable connection between your networks and can be achieved between servers that are in the same rack or between racks that are in the same datacenter. Traffic sent between servers across this interconnection will not count towards your bandwidth costs.

Private Networking

If you would like to have a connection between your networks but do not require a dedicated in-house cabling solution, it is possible to configure a private network. This will use the infrastructure that is already present at the datacenter to make a connection between your networks. For more information on private networks for your LeaseWeb servers, refer to the article on 'Private Networking'. For more specific instructions on how to set up private networking through the customer portal, refer to the article on 'Private Networking: All Servers'.

Service Level Agreement (SLA)

To keep your data connected 24/7, LeaseWeb's Basic Service Level Agreement is provided at no additional charge. For additional support, there are multiple levels of SLAs. For further information, refer to the article on Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Upgrades and downgrades

Hardware upgrades

To perform hardware upgrades on your active server, please note that we can offer upgrades for RAM and/or HDD depending on the server chassis capacity. If you are considering a different CPU, we can deploy the new server and run it simultaneously with your existing server so you can transfer your data. On completion, you can cancel the old server.

You can request for upgrades at sales@leaseweb.com, and we will provide a quote. There will be a one-time setup fee of €50.00 for the manual effort that is required by an engineer. After approval, we will schedule an appropriate date and time with you for the upgrade.

Bandwidth upgrades

Upgrading your bandwidth pack is an administrative procedure. For more information about network upgrades/downgrades, please refer to the network types article.

Relocate server

It's possible that an upgrade requires a server to be relocated. In that case, your server will also receive new IP addresses. These will always be announced to you in advance, and the timing of the relocation can be scheduled with our support department.

Delivery time

An order placed through the website is first verified by us over phone. This is a one-time verification process applicable only for your first order. Once verified, the order will be delivered, fully automated. Our Dedicated Servers can be deployed in as little as a few hoursDelivery of custom-configurations takes longer (7-10 business days).

If you like to have a guaranteed fast deployement of a server, you can consider ordering a Bare Metal Server. These Bare Metal servers are deployed fully automatic under a hour.

How LeaseWeb Backup works to your advantage

  • Block storage saves space and speeds up backup
The first time you perform a full backup an initial replica of your complete data is created. After this only those blocks which have actually been modified are backed up. This not only makes it quicker to backup but saves storage space, reduces disk I/O and saves data traffic.
  • Restore large file systems fast
Block-level backup enables bare-metal restores. In the event of disaster, it is a faster alternative to file/folder restores. This technology streams blocks directly to disks, significantly speeding up the restoration of large file systems or even entire servers.
  • Manage your backups with an easy to use interface
You can manage all your servers easily using our customer portal. Browse, download and restore files from specific recovery points you choose. Choose which files or folders you want to include or exclude from the backup. Or see detailed progress of replication and restore jobs as they run. But please remember: You are solely responsible for the quality of your backups so be vigilant when checking the completion process.
  • Backup your backup with multi-redundancy
To ensure the most secure solution LeaseWeb Backup provides data protection by default. This service is free of charge. Once you have arranged a backup schedule we will create a copy to a second backup platform to ensure it is saved in case of a storage failure.
  • Always be prepared with storage notifications
When storage capacity is almost at maximum, we’ll send you an email to warn you so you can take necessary measures such as reducing retention period or increasing storage capacity. You’ll also receive email notifications when your storage capacity is at maximum.
  • Multi-OS support
Our backup solutions support all the OS options that we currently run on our dedicated servers. They also offer advanced data protection for Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange, and MySQL (including MariaDB and Percona Server).
